A Hazy, Hot July Morning

magsjuly4

July 4th! WOW HOW DID THAT HAPPEN? Blink and you miss it, eh? (Surprise; I’m Canadian 🙂 ). As for me, waking up this morning overwhelmed and overtired and in a complete haze corresponding well to the outdoors, somehow I knew what I needed. Grabbed my terribly neglected camera and hit the grass. I had the huge urge to capture some moments so I can feel I saved a piece of the present (that’s one of the reasons why I love photography – fulfils that need so well). So I feel better now; July, it’s okay you’re here (my consent is given haha 🙂 ). It also reinforced how much I enjoy being outdoors first thing in the morning and the importance of that; it cleared my always anxious-in-the-mornings-head instantly and sets me right for the day.

So here’s some random shoots. I think you can guess how warm out it is from them, even at eight in the morning, so hazy in these. Still, love the nature this time of year!

Who’s the King of the Castle?

Last night Hannah, Michael and I set up this battle using the people from Risk on the castle that Lilly made for school.  I don’t remember the name of the castle, it was too long and I wouldn’t attempt to spell it. It was German so the chances of me spelling it right are nil. But I remember reading the script about it on the box that the castle is actually not very old at all and built for some really vain guy who wanted to be king and so he decided to build this spectacular, massive castle for himself complete with a throne (it stands to reason he had way too much time and money on his hands). Then he died without ever living it and it’s been kept in good condition since. Or some such. History is not my forte. The building itself would be pretty neat to see though, and apparently it is the most photographed castle in Germany. Cool.

Anyway, like our scenes? We did.

First YouTube Upload – Johnny Clegg “Dela”

Dela by Johnny Clegg – My favorite song

Today I wanted to learn how to post youtube videos on here, and I finally got it to work! Sweet.
So thought I’d share it here:

How to upload a youtube video on WordPress (in plain English):
1. Click on the “Add Media” button at the top of your post you’re working on.
2. Click “Insert from URL” option
3. Open new tab and find your youtube video, click on the link “Share” found under the video
4. Here you will find the URL for the youtube video highlighted, copy that address
5. Back in wordpress, paste the youtube URL into the top empty box
6. Title the video in the bottom box if you want to
7. Click the “Insert Into Post” at the bottom
8. In your post you’ll see the new URL embedded in brackets, that is the video.

So that’s how to do it, pretty easy. I’ll be posting more youtube videos to come on the blog.

PS: Most of them will probably be by Johnny Clegg.
